what to do when you have writers block!

Writers block is a common thing among writers. Even though many writers do not believe in the term, every now and then you can get stuck writing. Technically speaking many authors and writers may not use the term writer’s block, but it still happens, from time to time. I am going to focus on three things you can do to help you with your writing when you get stuck.

Miles Davis

Miles Davis was brilliant in his day playing the trumpet. His style of play always exuded a sense of calm and relaxation. So, if you have a Miles Davis cd laying around in your basement or your bedroom put in in your cd player and just grab a bottle of wine and relax for a while. Who knows, maybe you do not have any cd player, but you happen to have a smart speaker, then just ask Alexa to play songs by Miles Davis.
You may be saying to yourself, is that really all it takes to play some Miles Davis? Once you turn on his music he will take you to another place on earth and your mind will be free once again to write effortlessly.

Take a nap

Many times you find yourself trying to write that  epic novel that will be a best seller, but before you know it its 1am and now you are staring at the screen and all you see if that blinking cursor on the blank screen. You have wrote for hours, now all of the sudden you simply cannot write anymore. The issue that is causing you to have writers block is you are getting more and more tired. So instead of trying to write 20 thousand words a day. Go to sleep and write only when you are well rested. You will see for yourself once you had 8 to 10 hours of sleep you will again be able to write again.

Write Alone

I know you are busy at night, you are tired from your day job, so you try and write at home while the kids are awake, the wife is also working from home. Writing when everyone is home is not a good look. Ideally what you want to do is write when your mind is free from distractions. That time is 3am. I know 3am or 4am may not be for everyone, but think about it. The kids are asleep, the dog is asleep, and your wife is asleep. The only one awake is you. If for some reason you are not a morning person then you can do the same thing at night when everyone is asleep around midnight. Writing alone is great because your mind really can have a huge imagination, you can be creative and you will be freely to think.
